The ETIM module in feed® makes it easy to maintain ETIM data on your products. iSYS retrieves basic data/rules for the official ETIM versions from ETIM International and loads them into feed®.

This makes it easy to search for the correct ETIM class for a product and generate a template with the correct attributes and values that are valid for the specified class and version.

As different systems support different versions of ETIM, you can load and maintain data for multiple versions in feed®.

Supported ETIM versions

ETIM undergoes continuous changes and feed® will continue to support new versions released by ETIM International.
Currently, feed® supports the following versions:

  • ETIM 6
  • ETIM 7
  • ETIM 8
  • ETIM 9
  • ETIM 10

Legal values, field order, and translations are controlled by ETIM International. As you can see from the example on the left, there can be significant differences between versions of ETIM within the same class. For instance, some attributes may disappear, some may be added, and the order may change, and so on.

Important information about ETIM Dynamic.

In addition to regular releases (6, 7, 8, 9, etc.), ETIM International continuously posts new changes in ETIM Dynamic. As the name suggests, this includes the latest changes in ETIM, including those that have come after the last official release. ETIM Dynamic can change daily and is therefore not a stable release.

When integrating 2 systems and data needs to flow between them, it's important to compare "apples to apples" and not "apples to oranges." If both systems are running, for example, ETIM 8, they have a common defined set of rules that enable data exchange between them. If system A is running Dynamic, it may be that system B, which supports ETIM 8, does not have support for changes that have come after the latest version. Even though both system A and system B use Dynamic as a version, it requires them to stay updated in real-time to ensure they both have the latest changes available and are using the same set of rules.

feed® only supports release versions and not "Dynamic".

Language support/translation in ETIM

feed® will attempt to display headings and values for ETIM in the language set as the default language in the master data for language management. If there is no translation of the relevant ETIM text in the selected language, feed® will automatically revert to English text.

ETIM International uses English language, and it is up to each individual member country to translate if desired. This means that only English language is guaranteed to be available for all ETIM groups, classes, attributes, values, and units.

By default, only English is guaranteed to be available in feed®, but if available, users can request translations to other languages, provided that they are made available by ETIM International. Some languages are freely accessible, while others incur a cost to access.

feed® updates Norwegian translation files at intervals based on what is available via the API from ETIM International. If you have ETIM and want Norwegian (or other) translations, or to receive updates with new translations, please contact support to see if they are available for your version(s).
