Create Configuration
To create a configuration, navigate to "Integrations" → "feed2feed", then click the plus button in the bottom right corner.
Fields marked with * are required, while the other fields are optional.
Name*: A descriptive name for the configuration that allows you to distinguish between different configurations.
URL*: The URL of the feed® installation you want to receive data from.
Client Identification*: The client ID created in feed® from which you want to receive data.
Client secret*: The client secret created in feed® from which you want to receive data.
Approval Setting*: The setting for how you want feed® to handle products coming from the sender for the first time.
- "No approval" means that all products are imported automatically without requiring approval.
- "Approve new products" means that all products not previously imported from the sender must be approved before being imported. This applies to both products that already exist in your feed® and products you do not yet have.
Identifier*: This field determines how the feed2feed module will recognize incoming products. For example, the product number from the sender might not match the product number you use, but it could be stored in the "Alternative Product Number" field or an attribute.
Supplier: This is an optional field. If set, it will be used in combination with the "Identifier" field. This can be useful if you have multiple suppliers using the same product number. By setting the supplier field on the products, feed2feed can distinguish products based on the identifier combined with the supplier. For new products, the supplier field will automatically be set.
Product Template: A template can be applied here if desired. It may be wise to use a template that includes all attributes and texts that may come from the sender. If a template is set in the configuration, it will automatically be applied to new products imported via feed2feed.
Retrieve available basic data from the sender
After you have created the configuration, you can access the mapping overview. This will be empty after creation.
To retrieve all available fields from the sender, click the + icon as shown below.
feed® will then fetch all fields and the necessary data to begin mapping.
The left side of the mapping overview displays the fields coming from the sender. These can be linked to your fields, which are shown on the right side.
To prevent errors, feed® has implemented some restrictions on which data types can be linked to specific data types from the sender.
All fields are optional to map, but to create new products, the Name field must be mapped, as feed® requires a name to create a product.
In the example below, the sender has some attributes in a group called "Dimensions" This group contains several attributes, including "Length". When you click on the linkage icon, more information will appear, including the data type, which can help you map it to the correct field in your feed®.
For attributes of type integer and float, you can also set a conversion. See the example below where the sender uses the unit millimetre and the receiving feed® has an attribute with the unit centimetre. In this case, incoming data should be divided by 10 to ensure the correct value according to the unit.
In addition, there is a "CREATE ATTRIBUTE" button. This can be used if you don't have a suitable attribute in your feed® and want to create a new one.
If the sender's attribute data type is a data register, feed® will automatically import the data register for you.
Here is an example of creating the attribute for "Weight," which, on the sender's side, is an float-type attribute. The creation dialog will automatically set the correct data type, name, and other properties.
Before the attribute can be created, you only need to select which attribute group the attribute should be placed in.
Next, you will have the option to link the attribute to product templates. This step is not mandatory, and the wizard can be closed if desired. However, to save time later, you have the opportunity to complete this step quickly without leaving the mapping.
If you create an attribute through the wizard that is of the data register type, there will be an additional step at the beginning of the wizard specifically for creating the data register.
