Import via Excel
- The first step is to download an Excel template from feed® by clicking the "Download template" button.
The template contains tabs with information that is important to read and follow. - Next, add packaging input in the columns for each product you want to create or update packaging information on.
- Finally, upload the edited Excel file back into feed® by either dropping the file in the upload area or clicking the upload icon and navigating to the saved Excel file for uploading.
The list on the right side of the upload box shows history of uploads. If you click a line in this list you will get details on the upload.
The next screen will take you to the mapping section of Packaging units.
If you don't have any custom attributes in your packaging units and the Excel only contains columns that excist in the template, a quick fix for mapping all attributes are to click on the "here" link in the Packaging import code and go back again. All attributes are then mapped.
If you have custom attributes in one or more of the packaging units, and have columns for that in the Excel import file. Do the mapping and save the mapping by clicking on the disc icon
.If you have custom attributes in one or more of the packaging units, and already have a template for this, click on the "Apply template to mapping" icon
and select the correct template.Make sure that you have used the correct import codes in the Excel file for the Packages.
Information on what import codes to use can be found by clicking on the "here" link on the mapping page under "Packaging import code*"
When you are sure that everything is good you can click on the lower right icon
to start importA quick import analysis is conducted and informs about:
- Number of new product packages
- Number of product packages being updated
- Rows missing product numbers
Here, you also need to make a choice of what to import.
- Do you want to add new packages and update existing ones?
- Do you only want to create/add new packages to the products?
- Do you only want to update existing packaging information on the products?
To start the import, you must select the action: Start import.
If everything has been uploaded and connected successfully, you will not see a list under Errors in the import result.
If there is a list under Errors, you can click on the lines to get more information about the error or warning.
- Error will not create or update the package.
- Warning will create/update the package, but fail on one or more of the connections.
The line number refers to the row number in the Excel file.
To correct these problems, look at the messages and correct the issues in the Excel file and do another import.
In the example below, there are 2 items in feed with the same product number, and with duplicate item numbers, the import cannot identify which of these should have the package. It will then not be imported.
There is also an error on a package where the import code "Carton" does not exist in feed. In this case the name of the package is "Carton", while the import code that was expected in the file is "box". Using the correct import code will fix the issue on a new import.
PS: The Excel template contains tabs with information on how the template should be used. Read here to see if it explains what causes warnings and errors.
